Psychedelics & Maternity
Becoming a mother can be one of the most transformative—and challenging—experiences of a person’s life. From becoming pregnant, being pregnant, giving birth, and then transitioning into parenthood, emotions from fear to joy often emerge—and society doesn’t give us the tools to navigate through them. Plant medicines can make all the difference. And yet, there’s basically no trustworthy information on how to incorporate them into maternity. In this course, we give you the tools you need to navigate becoming and being a mother, from tracking your cycle, learning to trust the wisdom of your own body, ancestral birthing practices and rituals, tending to your womb, and beyond. We also cover postpartum depression, journeying as a parent, breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma, integrating with your children, teaching your children about plant medicines, coming out as a psychedelic parent, and more. This isn’t just about plant medicines—it’s about an ancient and intuitive way of mothering, that includes everything you put into your body so you can be the best version of yourself for yourself and your loved ones.

We’ve put together a team of incredible mothers for you have also supported countless other mothers on their journeys with plant medicines. In this module, you meet them and hear their powerful stories. There’s hardly any science out there looking at plant medicines for mothers. So how did they get onto this path? And how have they seen it help other mothers transform and grow? This will set the foundation for the beginning of what we hope will be a powerful journey for you, too.
Before we give you the tools to transform your life, you first need to learn some basic skills for becoming aware of what’s going on in your body already. In this module, we get into tracking your cycle, removing toxins from your life so your body can regulate itself, and learning your womb and uterus. We cover everything from menstrual products to contraception, whether you’re seeking new methods of birth control, trying to become pregnant, or already are. We highly recommend this module for all people who menstruate, not just mothers or mothers-to-be.
You wanna have a baby! Or maybeeee you’ve already got one (or more) on the way. Congratulations. Womb care specialist Mikaela de la Myco has put together a comprehensive list of resources on what we do and do not know about the use of plant medicines for conception and pregnancy. We will not give individualized medical advice, and we are committed to being forthright about the limitations of what we know, but there’s a lot that we do which can be supportive in the regulation of mood, nausea, insomnia, and other classic symptoms of pregnancy. As an herbalism expert, Mikaela also gets into non-psychoactive substances and practices such as tea and steaming. We’ll provide you with the recipes to make these beautiful treatments at-home.
Sunny Jackson is a doula who is passionate about supporting pregnant people through the birthing process, in a way that’s intuitive and holistic. She’s helped countless people prepare for and move through the birthing process as well as reintegrate into daily life postpartum. In this module, she covers rituals for preparing for and moving through birth. She also covers practices for tending to yourself and your body in the months following birth, from your mental diet to your physical diet.
When we go through a major transformation, such as giving birth we often become very sensitive to our choices. Sensitivity is not a bad thing, with the help of plant medicines, we learn that sensitivity is information and it can be utilized, if understood. In this module, Sunny covers how our dietary choices—what we and our children consume—can serve as one of the fundamental pillars for fully embarking on a journey of self-realization and growth. Questions she’ll answer include: What are the times in which we need to shift from one diet to the next? What does seasonal living consist of? And are we making dietary choices based on polarizing ideas, as opposed to what really works for each of us?
In recent years, there’s been much emerging research on epigenetics, or the idea that our behaviors and environments can actually change the way our genes work and then be passed to our children. This is to say that we may not only do psychedelic work for ourselves, we may do it to disrupt cycles of trauma within our own lineages. In this module, Gabrielle teaches us tools and theories for disrupting trauma, from attachment theory to Zulu constellation systems, and how that can transform not only ourselves, but our children and their children for generations to come.
In the psychedelic community, you may have heard phrases like “every trigger is a teacher” or “never waste a good trigger.” In many ways, maternity is like a psychedelic trip, bringing old wounds to the surface and forcing us to face them. Our children, while they may trigger us, can also be our greatest teachers, if we let them and we set aside the idea that we always know better or more than they do. This can be a beautiful opportunity for self-growth, especially with the intentional use of plant medicines. In this module, Gabrielle Williams teaches us how to use motherhood as a tool to further our own spiritual paths.
In the psychedelic community, we often talk about “integration,” or the idea that it’s not just enough to take a psychedelic: we must integrate the lessons from our psychedelic experiences into our lives in order to see real change. This can be challenging as a parent, with all the day to day stressors of taking care of your children. In this module, Dayana teaches us how to create the space to properly integrate. It’s important to create a container, and have the support, to be in your own process, but you can also integrate with your children, using them as teachers and tools to remind you of what’s important.
One of the most challenging things psychedelic parents may face is figuring out how to discuss—or not discuss—their plant medicine use with others in the community. This may include extended family members, close friends, parents of children from school, your children’s friends, and teachers. Especially in communities that have historically been targeted by the War on Drugs, where there is a taboo against drug use of any kind, there’s a cultural framework that must be taken into account. Dayana Mendoza grew up in Colombia, in a community that was ripped from its ancestral ties to plant medicines and where all drug use is considered taboo. Drugs, from mushrooms to cocaine, were all considered similarly “bad.” In this module, she covers how to find supportive community as a psychedelic parent.
As your children get older, many parents wonder how, if and when to approach the topic of their psychedelic use with their children. At what age, if any, should you let your children know about your psychedelic use? Is there value in talking to them about it, and destigmatizing it, from a young age or is it better to wait until they’re older? How can you frame the conversation, so that your children understand how psychedelics have informed your values and your care for them? Destiny, as a mother of four, has meditated, chanted, and taught her children a spiritual way of living since they were born. In this module, she covers how you can infuse your home with an ethos, informed by the lessons of plant medicines, and how journeying can be supportive for both raising children and being in partnership.
Let’s not forget to take care of you! While parents focus on their children, they sometimes lose sight of the importance of intimacy and joy in their own lives. This can also negatively impact how they treat their children and their partner(s). In this module, Destiny talks about how plant medicines can be used to come back to self and to maintain a thriving relationship with your partner(s), centered around your needs. She’ll talk about plant medicines as tools for communication, sensuality, and beyond.

Meet Your Teachers

Born in Atlanta and raised in Maryland and Washington, D.C., Gabrielle is a multidisciplinary teacher, medicine woman and holistic healer. Among her greatest influences have been womanist-centered education at Spelman College, her ancestors, being a boy mom and her training in shamanic and ancestral healing in Brazil.
In 2012, Gabrielle moved to Salvador, Brazil – a decision that would change the trajectory of her entire life. There she became integrated into the local holistic and shamanic healing communities. In time she was chosen by her shamans to apprentice as a medicine woman working with ayahuasca, hapé, and other indigenous Amazonian sacred earth medicines.
She provides journeys, workshops, courses, and spiritual retreats where she shares the wisdom of ancestral spiritual traditions and sacred earth medicines to aid BIPOC and allies seeking inner peace and paths to self-healing.

Mikaela de la Myco comes from a multi-cultural, first-generation Italian, afro-Caribbean, and indigenous Mexican family who lived in the Los Angeles – unceded Tongva territory.
Her education path has led her down the ways of sacred intimacy work and the temple arts, indigenous Mexican ceremony, womb healing facilitation in the ma’at tradition, all under the care of a colorful variety of teachers and guides.

She now lives in San Diego – occupied Cahuilla and Kumeyaay territory with her family and friends. In her journey as a mushroom mother, she was called to create virtual and in-person spaces for psychedelic families and birthing people.
Her primary focus in medicine work is to hold community and small group spaces where people can journey through the dark amenta to uncover their ancestor codes, explore and enjoy the body and heal sexual trauma wounds with mushroom medicine while keeping barriers for entry low.

Sunumi Jackson is the developer of a psilocybin curation platform called Thehealinghustlas which offers personal growth classes, women’s circles, and assistance with the medicine integration process. She is an entheogen educator journeying with the community to expand trauma-informed integrations, medicine ceremonies, decolonization of medicine work, and at the root of it all, remembering nature. Sunumi is a mother who has consumed and studied psilocybin use during pregnancy with intention of finding additional healing modalities for postpartum hormonal imbalances and depression. She is working with adaptogenic mushrooms, micro-dosing, and infusing foods with mushroom medicine.

Why This Course?
As far as we’re aware, there’s no course out there like this. We made it because we saw there was a huge need for it, and we’ve partnered with mothers who, through years of experience, can offer invaluable teachings that we are not given in our culture.
At the end of the day, we can only give you the tools. It’s up to you to do “the work,” as we say in the psychedelic community. So there’s no guarantee and psychedelic journeying is often lifelong work. That said, we’re here to provide you with a framework so you have the best possible chances of success.
You can start the course and go through the materials at your own pace. You will have access to the materials forever, so you can go back and reference them as many times as you want.
Learn from the world’s leading experts in psychedelics. More than 5000 students have graduated from our courses. We’re highly intentional about the teachers we bring onboard.
Worried about the cost of the course? Worried it won’t give you what you’re looking for? You’ll have 14-days to get your money back in full.
All the proceeds from our courses go directly back to funding our journalism to further the psychedelic movement.

Who This Course is For
We are taught so little about our cycles and our bodies, it’s absurd. Most people who menstruate are just told by their mothers or doctors to use a certain kind of contraception or menstrual product, rather than being taught how their cycles work. Many menstrual products have toxins in them. Meanwhile, contraception can disrupt the process of ovulation, which impacts mood, sensuality, and energy levels. Whether you’re a mother-to-be or not, we’ll teach you fundamental skills for reconnecting with and taking charge of your womb.
First and foremost, we made this course for all the mothers out there who are on a spiritual path and want to learn a different way to get pregnant, be pregnant, and bring their children into the world. Our culture does not teach us an intuitive way of mothering. Instead, we’re told “do it like this” or “do it like that.” But we can look to ancient wisdom, ritual, and plant medicines for a holistic approach that takes the minds, bodies, and spirits of mothers and their children into account.
Partners, we’re looking at you! Mothers are often under incredible amounts of stress. They give birth and then are expected to just go home and change their entire lives without a framework of support. We’re here to change that. In this course, we offer practices for setting intentions while trying to conceive, moving through pregnancy, and coming home. Partner(s) and community members can play an integral role in these processes, and we show you how.
