Bored of tie-dye tees and lava lamps? Well, we aren’t either. But we did want to recommend some unusual gifts and products to our fellow psychonauts. To us, psychedelia is about more than glowing lights and fractals. Plant medicines can speak to your soul. They speak to nourishment. They speak to your sense of wonder. So, we thought about trippy gifting a little differently over here. The following psychedelic gifts are things that our team has tried and adored—from menstrual journals to mushroom sprays to essays on grief. (And a little silliness, too).

Psychedelic Reading

Psychedelics expand your mind—and so do books! After a psychedelic experience, you may want to learn more or immerse yourself in teachings that will help you integrate your journey into daily practice. Of course, many worthy books and guides can help you reframe your perspective and pique your curiosity. But here are some of our trippy favorites:

The Wild Kindness: A Psilocybin Odyssey

By Bett Williams

The Wild Kindness by Bett Williams

First, we have to say: Bett Williams is a wonderful writer. This memoir is not only a showcase of her craft but also brings the tension between capitalism and traditional wisdom to the surface. Williams shows how a life—her life— can become entangled in larger forces of power and history.

Cost: $20

Tao Of Pooh

By Benjamin Hoff and E. H. Shepard

The Tao of Pooh

This is one of the most comforting introductions to Taoism that we’ve come across. E. H. Shepard’s illustrations adorn delightful and easy-to-understand lessons in ancient Chinese philosophy. Thanks, Pooh, for helping us learn “how to be calm and happy under all circumstances.”

Cost: $13

The Prophet (Illustrated)

By Kahlil Gibran

The Prophet

The ebbs and flows of the human condition are often simultaneously beautiful and painful—from sorrow to laughter. How do you make peace with the turbulent forces in life? Gibran’s The Prophet is a must-read classic.

Cost: $6

The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief

By Francis Weller

The Wild Edge of Sorrow

There are few emotions more powerful than grief: it’s an expression of love lost, of longing. It’s something that almost all of us experience, perhaps in different ways and with different names—a universal. Psychotherapist Francis Weller helps us “navigate the deep waters of sorrow.”

Cost: $14

The Artist’s Way: 30th Anniversary Edition

By Julia Cameron

The Artists Way

Can you imagine yourself at 80? Who do you want to be? Can you show yourself gratitude? The Artist’s Way has gone through 30 reprints for a reason—this book is a classic, and it’s good! We love this as a tool to help us get familiar with ourselves and the stories that we’re harboring.

Cost: $15

The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants

By Christian Ratsch

The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants

The botanical nerd in your life will be stoked to get this encyclopedia as a gift. This book is a pinnacle of a psychedelic reading collection: Catch the basics on almost any known psychoactive plant. Plus, the forward is written by the legendary Albert Hofmann, inventor of LSD, which is pretty darn cool.

Cost: $102

DoubleBlind Magazine

We have to say it—our magazine makes a wonderfully trippy gift! We got a lot of flack for starting a print magazine in 2019, at a moment when journalism seemed to be going under, unable to support itself amidst an ocean of fake news and online content. We thought it was worth it still, and we hope you do, too. Dive into untold stories about psychedelics across the globe. We hope our magazine reflects the care, compassion, and hard work of all of those who make this work possible: the writers and artists who contribute, all of those who trust us with their stories and perspectives, and our brilliant community of readers and supporters. We love you. We hope it shows.

Psychedelic Gifts for Post-Journey Support

Did the mushrooms tell you that you need to cut back on coffee? That you need to sleep better? That you need help with your anxiety or your mood? Oftentimes, we have revelations on psychedelics, but it can be really hard to implement those changes in our lives. Legal plant and fungi allies can make all of the difference. But there are a lot of phony “wellness” products out there. Here’s a very select few products that have changed the lives of the people on our team and/ or are made by people who we know, love, and trust.

Energy/ Clarity

Super Mush Energy Spray

SuperMush Mushroom Energy Spray

If you’re looking for something to zap your brain awake in the mornings,  during that afternoon slump, or even before you go out to be social, we highly recommend this spray. We love it at DB. It can be great to have a few spritzes before your cup of caffeine or if you’re looking to cut back. It helps with focus and clarity, too, thanks to the Lion’s Mane and Rhodiola.

Cost: $27

Warmi Tea’s Guayusa Chai

Warmi's Guayusa Tea

Many people don’t know this but guayusa is actually the only caffeinated beverage that some dietas, the cleanse that’s recommended before an ayahuasca ceremony, allow. It’s a caffeinated holly. It’s great, in general, as a coffee alternative for that boost without the jitters. We love the folks at Warmi.

Cost: $22

MUD\WTR

MUD\WTR

You’ve probably heard of MUD\WTR by now, and that’s because it’s also changing people’s lives by helping them cut out or cut down on coffee. It has a fraction of the caffeine in coffee, but helps sustain your energy through legal functional mushrooms.

Cost: Starting at $40

Read: What to Know About the Sacred Cacao Ceremony

Keith’s Cacao

Keith's Cacao

Just like with functional mushrooms, there’s tonsssss of cacao brands out there that are diluted versions of the real deal. Cacao can be a gentle but potent medicine as a coffee alternative or on a day when you’re doing yoga, journaling, and looking to go inward. People call it a “heart opener” for helping you sink out of your mind and into your body.

Cost: $50

Calm/ Anxiety/ Sleep

Animamundi Sleep Tea

Aniamundi Lucid Dream TEa

At the risk of stating the obvious, sleep is absolutely fundamental to living a whole life. Many of us struggle with it. Animamundi makes a beautiful, powerful tea with all the best, most high-quality herbs for quieting an overactive mind: kava, passionflower, skullcap, blue lotus, and others. It’s one of the most effective mixes we’ve found out there, and it shouldn’t give you a hangover the next day.

Cost: $19

Plant People’s Sleep Tincture

Plant People Sleep Drops

If you’re wanting something to help relax as you’re nearing bed, but not something that will knock you out, Plant People’s sleep tincture is beautifully gentle. Like Animamundi’s help, it can support with racing thoughts and anxiety if that’s keeping you up.

Cost: $60 and up

Wild Terra’s Skullcap Tincture

Wild Terra Skullcap Tincture

Once you start getting into herbs, you’ll realize that there are countless tinctures, supplements, and herbs that can support you with mood, insomnia, pain, and beyond. It can be overwhelming. Skullcap is one of our favorite, underrated herbs. Like CBD or ashwagandha, it’s an incredible ally for calming the nervous system. You can take it just at night to support sleep or as much as three times a day, with your caffeine in the morning or in the middle of the day, just to get your nervous system regulated. Wild Terra is a local herb shop in Los Angeles, and everything is sourced and made with love. If you’re looking for loose-leaf chamomile, ashwagandha, or really anything else, you can’t go wrong by purchasing from Wild Terra. Even if the shipping takes a bit longer, trust us, it’s worth the wait! Or if you’re in Los Angeles, stop into the shop.

Cost: $13 and up

Best Games, Gadgets, and Giggles

Why so serious? Psychedelics can be deeply healing, but so can fun and games. These hodge-podge items make our team smile—and we hope they’ll make your gift-ee smile, too. We hope these delight someone who is near and dear to you.

Dirt Gems

Dirt Gems

Can plants predict your future? Or tell you something about your present? Draw a card and see. This beautiful deck from Anne Louise Burdett and Chelsea Granger is like botanical tarot. The insightful experience was inspired by the friends’ “love for the earth and all the medicine and healing that it holds.”

Cost: $48

Advanced Water Test Kit

water test kit

Water is an essential part of daily life. We literally need it to survive. But, how much do you know about what’s actually in your water? We get it—sometimes you just don’t want to know. Yet, for those that do, this test kit will not disappoint. Curiosity might have killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.

Cost: $265

On Shrooms and Having A Great Time Boxer Briefs

boxer briefs

Okay, shameless plug. We all know that comfortable clothes are essential for shrooming, right? (Well, unless you prefer au naturale). We’ve got ourselves a collection available on the DoubleBlind Shop. But, these gender-neutral undies are among our favorites. Our Creative Director, artist David Good, designed the graphic. Bonus: these briefs are made with super soft and stretchy fabric. Proceeds support DoubleBlind’s journalism.

Cost: $29

Visually Trippy Gifts

What is more psychedelic than art? The following books are stunning—and make for some trippy gifts. They’re inspired by psychedelic experiences and the intricate beauty of nature. They’re filled with visual and linguistic poetry. They’re transfixing. We think they’d make excellent gifts for mushroom lovers—and lovers of other psychedelics, of course.

Diana Policarpo: Nets of Hyphae

By Stefanie Hessler and Diana Policarpo

Policarpo’s Nets of Hyphae is part history, part visual art, and part reproductive justice. She dives back in time to explore the ergot fungus, the precursor to LSD. Get lost in up-close renderings of mycelial networks and learn about the ways we’ve been tangled up with ergot for centuries. Definitely a trippy gift we’d recommend.

Cost: $22

We Ate the Acid

By Joe Roberts

We Ate The Acid Book

This book is gorgeous, and so fun to look at. Mixed media artist Joe Roberts created over 100 different new pieces for this book, including paintings and sketches. Simplistic doodles appear next to intricate pieces that can keep the eyes wandering around the page, taking in all of the tiny details. Forward by Hamilton Morris.

Cost: $35

The Ayahuasca Visions of Pablo Amaringo

By Howard G. Charing, Peter Cloudsley, and Pablo Amaringo

Ayahuasca Visions by Pablo Amaringo

Pablo Amaringo is a legendary ayahuasca artist. You may even see art influenced by his visionary style without even knowing it. We recommend this book as a canonical piece for anyone interested in psychedelic art history—or for anyone who wants to look at stunning works from an artistic legend.

Cost: $40

Be Here Now

By Ram Dass

Be Here Now by Ram Dass

This book is so neat! It’s part meditation, part visual delight. The book has an interactive quality, with vertical pages that require you to turn it topsy-turvy and engage with its physicality. With the wise words of Ram Dass filling every page, just looking at it is a nourishing experience.

Cost: $16

Brian Blomerth’s Mycelium Wassonii

By Brian Blomerth

Brian Blomerth book

Who says learning can’t be fun? Blomerth’s dazzling illustrations tell the complicated story of Gordon and Valentina Wasson, who are responsible for popularizing magic mushrooms in the West—without the consent of María Sabina, the Mazatec curandera who invited Gordon into ceremony.

Best Psychedelic Classes

As we often say at DoubleBlind, learning about psychedelics before you trip is as important as the trip itself. Empower a loved one with the knowledge to go deeper into their journey.

Mushroom Growing Class

More than 2000 people around the world have learned to grow mushrooms with us. We have a team of renowned mycologists, including Dr. K Mandrake and Virginia Haze of The Psilocybin Mushroom Bible, who provide live support to people during the grow process. We hear over and over from folks that once they see that first shroom fruit, they’re hooked and just want to go deeper into the practice of connecting with their food and medicine. Empower a loved one to join us and grow their own shrooms in 12 weeks. This is also a really fun thing to do with a loved one if you want to enroll alongside someone else as a gift. All the proceeds go back to making our journalism possible.

Cost: $149.99

Introduction to Psychedelics for Healing: Class

Is there someone in your life—a parent, a partner, or friend—who knows you are passionate about psychedelics, but doesn’t quite understand them? Perhaps they’re curious about tripping themselves, but are afraid and unsure. That’s why we made our Psychedelics 101 class. It covers how to prepare for a trip, how to choose the right psychedelic for you, and more. It’s a great place for newbies who are curious to begin. You might also consider buying them our fundamentals of psychedelics bundle, which includes our course on how to microdose and how to hold space for others while they’re having a psychedelic experience.

Cost: $74.99

Become a Psychedelic Therapist or Trip Sitter

Do you know someone who is really passionate about psychedelics and wants to help others? Perhaps you have a loved one who is a nurse practitioner, therapist, or doctor and you think they should be psychedelic competent. Either way, we recommend Psychedelics Today’s training for folks who want to hold space for others. This is an investment, to be sure, but it can be a life changing one.

Cost: $1597, or three payments of $537

Best Menstrual Care Gifts

At DoubleBlind, we believe that our lives—and our bodies—are ecosystems. Every single part of who we are impacts every other single part of who we are. This is to say that we can’t talk about awakening and wellness, without also discussing what’s happening within our bodies. In the same way that the mental health field has failed to treat a significant number of folks who are psychologically suffering, the field of OBGYN has failed to treat a significant number of folks who menstruate and deal with severe pain and mood fluctuations monthly. Here are some of our favorite, conscious plant medicine products to help. Also, if you’re interested in learning more, here’s DoubleBlind’s course on psychedelics and maternity, which also covers menstruation, tracking your cycle, contraception, and beyond. Here are our favorite risks for menstural care:

Cycles Journal

Cycles Journal

Whether it’s microdosing, integration from large-dose medicine experiences, or your cycle, becoming more intentional always begins with paying attention. Creating a ritual and process for paying attention, such as having a designated, beautiful journal you write in daily, can make all the difference. Consider this beautiful journal, a collaborative effort between a number of holistic practitioners and herbalists, including DoubleBlind psychedelics and maternity teacher Mikaela de la Myco.

Cost: $44

Xula CBD Oil

XULA CBD

Of all the CBDs out there that we’ve tried, Xula is by far our favorite. They have a tincture to support people who menstruate all month and a tincture to help with cramps and pain during your moon. The tinctures are stacked with beautiful and intentional herbs that support a regulated nervous system and consistent cycle such as lemon balm and burdock. Their month-long tincture helps with mood and anxiety. Plus, as an added bonus, it’s owned by some amazing BIPOC women who you’ll be supporting with your purchase.

Cost: $58

Best Sexy Gifts

Much like with menstruation, from the get-go, we’ve talked about sex and intimacy at DoubleBlind. That’s because, for many, having fulfilling sex (with yourself and/ or partner(s)) as well as intimacy is integral to a life well lived. And yet, like psychedelics, we just don’t talk about intentional intimacy in our culture. Many people with cervixes don’t even know if they can orgasm. Other folks have difficulty accessing pleasure alone or with others because of insecurities, trauma, and other barriers to feeling safe and comfortable. These holistic plants and tools can help. Also, for information on psychedelics for sensuality, sexual trauma, and beyond, follow our favorite educators on the topic Laura Mae Northrup and Britta Love. Here are our favorite sexy gifts:

FORIA

Foria Wellness Products

FORIA, in many ways, pioneered an industry of cannabis-infused sex oils and lubes. They began with products centered around pleasure for people with cervixes, and still have an arousal oil we love. It helps stimulate down there ahead of time, which can help with relaxation. They have a CBD only product that ships nationwide for yonis. They also have a lube for everyone.

Cost: $34 (CBD only), $31 (lubricant)

Mapping the Yoniverse by Samantha Zipporah

Mapping the Yoniverse book

People with yonis (aka vaginas) and their partner(s) often don’t know fundamental information about their anatomy which impacts their ability to find pleasure. We love Mapping the Yoniverse, an accessible picture book for yonis and their partners as a starting point for holistic, sex-positive education.

Cost: $18

Sex Toys

sex toys

One of the best ways to figure out what you love is with the help of a toy. We encourage you to buy one (or another one!) for solo or partnered play. Love Honey has a great selection—as well as a sex-positive, inclusive blog to help you navigate, what may feel like, an intimidating shopping process.

Cost: Varies

Kink Stories

You might be thinking: “why is a book about kink in a guide about psychedelics?” We don’t blame you, but let us explain! At DB, we’re here to destigmatize all practices—from plant medicine ceremony to kink—that will help folks feel like the happiest, most deeply expressed versions of themselves. That’s actually better than a trippy gift, right? There’s a lot of shame and taboo around kink still—and it’s not for everyone—but some folks who feel called to it, don’t try, out of fear or self-judgment. This collection of short stories is a great way to dip a toe in and see if it’s something you want to explore further. For information on the intentional use of plant medicines and kink as a spiritual practice, follow DoubleBlind contributor Nicolle Hodges.

Best Natural Skincare Gifts

Humans have engaged in bathing rituals for thousands of years as a form of self-care. There’s so many products out there. Here’s a few, made with intention, by friends we trust. Here are our favorite natural skincare gifts:

Maria Valentino’s Skin Nourishment Serum

Maria Valentino Skin Serum

You might get more “Cosmo” than “plant medicine” when you first land on Maria’s website, but she’s a badass formulator, expert in mycology and plant medicines, and dear ally to DoubleBlind. Her products are pricey because they’re made with the utmost intention and love, but worth trying if you’re having skin issues. Use code DOUBLEBLIND for 10% off.

Cost: $111

Yantra Botanicals

tincture bottle

Scent has been used for millennia for relaxation, nausea, anxiety, and more. It goes without saying that there’s tons of brands out there, but our friend Shireen Jarrahian, also a medicine musician, makes beautiful oils that we couldn’t recommend more. Her alchemy oil is divine, made with frankincense and rose sourced from a small family of perfumers in Mumbai.

Cost: Varies

Best Alcohol-Free Gifts

Adaptogenic mocktails, anyone? Many people in our community aren’t big fans of alcohol—perhaps you’re looking for a healthier alternative, or perhaps you’d like to stop drinking altogether. Whatever the reason, these fun products are all alcohol-free (and also very delicious). We think they’d make excellent presents. Here are our favorite alcohol-free gifts:

BonBuz

BonBuz non-alcoholic spirit

The alcoholic alternatives market is booming these days, but our favorite is BonBuz. It’s got complex herbal flavors that make it taste like an actual cocktail made by a fancy mixologist (not just a glorified juice or soda) and it’s filled with nootropics and green tea to give you a boost when you’re looking to be social. Cutting out or down on alcohol can be very challenging, but it’s also a message a lot of folks get once they start using psychedelics. And having something great to drink like this, along with some of the herbs and tinctures (Skullcap, CBD, Kanna) recommended above for anxiety and mood, can really help support.

Cost: $40

Artet

Artet n/a cannabis drink

Sorry non-Californians, this one is for our friends in the Golden State. It’s a cannabis-infused cocktail. It really stands out among all the cannabis edibles out there, making for a smooth pour and an amazing social lubricant. We love it, too, cause it’s family-owned.

Cost: $40

Read: Can You Smoke Shrooms?

Best Gifts for Smokers and Ceremonial Tokers

Tell your friend that they don’t have to puff, puff, pass this season. These decadent smokables are just for them. (Well, they can share if they want to, of course.) Not everyone can access psychedelics, but these legal smokables make for trippy gifts in an era of prohibition. We love these products because they align with our values and are created by some of our wonderful teachers. We hope you enjoy them, too! Here are the our favorite gifts for smokers:

Puff Herbal Smokes

Puff Herbals herbal spliffs

Puff Herbal founder and herbalist Lian Bruno has taught about herbalism for us at DoubleBlind. She comes from a lineage of herbalists, and trained at Harvard. Her herbal blends are as intentional and high quality as they come. They’re great for folks looking to cut back on tobacco and/ or weed, or just looking to enhance their mood.

Cost: $33 and up

Goddess Breath

Herbal smoking blend

Goddess Breath was started by DB teacher and herbalism expert Mikaela de la Myco. Like Puff Herbal, all of their blends are made with intention and a deep knowledge of what herbs do what. They have a blend for lucid dreaming with mugwort that we love, if that’s something you want to try, as well as blends for menstruation, sleep, and more. They can be smoked on their own or mixed with cannabis.

Cost: $22

Kinni-Kinnick Pipe Tobacco

ceremonial tobacco

Tobacco has been used ceremonially for time immemorial. In many Indigenous cultures around the world, it still is, and it’s revered as a sacred plant with a spirit. It’s used on its own as well as incorporated into ceremonies with other plant medicines such as ayahuasca and psilocybin mushrooms. There’s a lot of stigma around tobacco now, given the rise of the cigarette industry, and at DB, we’re always in favor of intentional use. That said, if you are looking for an authentic, beautifully-grown traditional tobacco to use on its own or in ceremony, we love this one, from a local Native-owned shop in Minneapolis.

Cost: $11 and up

Rapéh

Rapéh

Rapéh (or rapé, hape, or hapeh) is a traditional plant medicine used by Indigenous communities in the Amazon. It’s sometimes administered prior to ceremonies with other medicines, such as ayahuasca and kambo. It’s administered with a kuripe pipe, a v-shaped pipe with two ends. One end goes into the mouth, and the other end goes into the person’s nose. It’s then administered by blowing hard through one end. There are kuripes for self-administration and longer ones for others to administer. It’s said to elevate mood—sometimes by allowing tears/ grief to emerge and pass through—as well as to help with pain in the body. It’s a sacred medicine and should be treated as such. It’s preferred to do it with a facilitator who knows what they’re doing for the first time as it can cause nausea and unease, but folks do do it at-home. It passes in about 30 minutes and doesn’t cause visuals. We trust the rapéh from our friends at Colibri. You’ll also need a kuripe. The Ancestor Project also sometimes offers rapéh ceremonies and education.

Cost: $25 and up

Moonmade Cannabis

Moonmade Farms Cannabis

Sorry, this is only for our California readers! It goes without saying that there’s a lottttt of cannabis brands out there these days, but there’s none we love more than the intentional, small-batch, sungrown, organic cannabis from our friends at Moonmade.

Cost: Varies

Overall Support

It’s not uncommon to focus on health after a journey—although we acknowledge that only you can decide what “healthy” means to yourself. Nevertheless, if you find that you’re browsing for days in the land of online supplements, we may be able to help. The following products are beloved by our team:

Rainbo Mushrooms

Rainbo Mushroom tincture

At this point, you’ve probably heard about the functional mushroom craze. It began, in large part, with famed mycologist Paul Stamets’ brand Host Defense and now the market is booming with tons of questionable products. That said, it’s true that the most common functional mushrooms—Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Chaga, and Cordyceps—have been used for millennia in traditional medicine for immune function as well as increased energy and brain function, including focus, memory, and creativity. Many folks in psychedelics now take functional mushrooms daily, much like a multivitamin. If you’re looking to give it a try, our favorite is Rainbo Mushrooms’ 11:11 tincture, made by our friend Tonya Papanikolov. If you’re looking for just one mushroom, such as lion’s mane for focus or reishi for immune support, they also have that.

Cost: Varies

Xula’s CBD Oil

XULA CBD

There’s a lot of CBD oils out there to the point that the whole CBD industry has begun to feel like a bunch of snake oil salesmen. Xula gave us faith in CBD again. It can help with chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, and a whole host of other conditions.

Cost: $38

Hearthstone’s Microdosing Capsules

Kanna microdose capsule bottle

Now before you get too excited, we regret to inform you that these are not psilocybin or LSD microdoses. Unfortunately, those are still illegal. BUT, you might be just as excited (or more!) when you try kanna, a completely legal succulent that commonly grows in South Africa, and realize how powerful it can be. It’s been used since prehistoric times and has shown promise for anxiety, depression, and stress. You can microdose these capsules just like folks microdose psilocybin and LSD, with days on and off for consistent mood elevation. Our friend Ryan Latrielle started it, following a deep personal journey with plant medicines that called him to make consciousness-shifting plants more accessible. Kanna is sometimes compared to MDMA, as it can be heart-opening and increase a feeling of connectivity. But at these microdose levels you should still be able to completely function in your day to day life. He has microdoses called “play,” stacked with other herbs, which are said to be good for depression, and microdoses called “relax,” for folks with anxiety. As always, please be mindful of potential contraindications and the research that exists about these plants.

Cost: $50 and up, $7 sample

Papa and Barkley’s Topicals for Pain

Papa & Barkley hemp pain balm

When we’re in deep physical pain, it can be hard to think about anything else. When we’re in subtle physical pain, we often ignore it, but it does have an impact on our mood and our overall ability to access joy. Scan your body, see what aches you (your back? Your feet?) and try some self-massage with these topicals. If you’re in California, we recommend the one infused with THC. If you’re not, we love their CBD-only topical, too. These are great, also, for relieving menstrual cramps and womb massage.

Cost: $40 (cost of THC products vary)

Maria Valentino’s Topical for Pain Relief

Maria Valentino pain relief balm

Our friend Maria also makes an incredible pain relief cream for really anywhere that aches you, and it smells amazing. Use code DOUBLEBLIND for 10% off.

Cost: $111

Thorne’s Vitamins and Supplements

Thorne's supplement box and bottles

Okay, we admit it: vitamins probably don’t seem like trippy gifts. But, hear us out—they can support your body in recovery after a journey. There is such a wide range in qualities of vitamins and supplements. Whether you’re taking Vitamin B, Vitamin D, or something more obscure, we can’t recommend Thorne enough.

Cost: Varies

FUNCTIONAL MUSHROOMS

Trametes versicolor: A Guide to Turkey Tail Mushroom

This medicinal mushroom may not be psychedelic, but it performs some potent magic tricks of its own.
