Joanna Steinhardt
Joanna Steinhardt is an anthropologist, writer, and editor. She has an MA in Cultural Studies from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology from University of California, Santa Barbara. She wrote her dissertation on do-it-yourself mycology based on two years of field work. Joanna has worked as a communications consultant for MycoWorks, the start-up making biomaterials out of mycelium, and as a researcher for Dovetail Labs, a research consultancy that specializes in the ethics of AI and other emergent technologies. Besides DoubleBlind, Joanna has written for the Los Angeles Review of Books, Cultural Anthropology (in a series she co-edited), Lucid News & Wired. When she’s not reading or writing about science, spirituality, and politics, Joanna is drinking and selling at the Blue Willow Tea Spot in Berkeley.
